ABOUT US:
So, why - you might ask - is LA-Tees taking up my precious time with this 'About Us' page? And, indeed, why should I bother reading on?
Excellent questions to which we have no justifiable reason to offer you other than, why not plow through yet another boring, self-indulgent puffery piece not so cleverly disguised as something of possible literary value to some poorly read person with way too much time on his hands? Oh, how we'd love to fill your head and heart with some romantic, heroic yarn about rags, literally and figuratively, to riches, but alas our keyboard's hooked up to a polygraph, so truth be out.
We launched (oops, scratch that, polygraph went off the chart there) ... We stumbled into creating a few sloppy designs in January 2006, as a way of supplementing an income with a few bucks made on Easy Street. Well, we soon learned Easy Street isn't on any map, other than stapled someplace somewhere to our delusional mind. Not a single sale. Not a one. zip for months.
So, with much hair-pulling and mouse-clicking, we deleted the crap and conjured up some fresher crap. Lo (should really be "low") and behold, a mighty few paltry sales trickled in. WOW! proud we were. We were now firmly on good footing to march right on up to the nearest realtor repping Malibu beach front properties, and help him make a sale, too.
What's it they chirp about pride and a fall? Jeez, we'd a fall in spring! March roared in like the proverbial lion, and exited like an uncooked lamb chop marinated in meager sales. April showers flooded our sales sheet with near vacant entries. This time we kept the fresh crap, but upped our efforts to provide designs that people might just want to buy. Eureka! Einstein had nothing on us wise guys back then, I tells ya! However, it was hard toughing out designs that would endear our website's viewers into becoming our shop's valued customers. It might not look it, but t-shirt designing is an art form honed from crafting awesome acres of abject failures, till something sticks to the cotton and magics itself into a viable commodity.
2008 saw us burning the candle not only at both ends, but on every inch along it, too. Creation was our watchword. Expansion, our mantra. We grew to a chain of four online T-shirts & Gifts shops: LA-Tees, Lousy T-shirt, T-shirt Ghetto, and Turn Left. Additionally, we sprouted a flurry of smaller stores in other corners of the web to further our design and retail presence. In our shirts' short life, it was our best, so far.
Understandably, we're no different from most businesses in 2009's era of global economic drag, so we are in the process of becoming a wiser, leaner, meaner machine. We are consolidating some of our other shops' inventory of original designs into a fully madeover LA-Tees.com, while building a new and edgy store named T-shirt Wall (www.T-shirtWall.net) We look forward to having you as our deeply valued and happy customer over there, also...nudge, nudge, wink, wink, and all of that good Monty Python stuff!
